Companion and Healing Pets at Senior Living

Approximately 45 million American households have at least one cat and 57 million have at least one dog.

Pets are reliable companions that have been found to have benefits for their owners' health and well-being. Some benefits include: reduced stress, improved mood, lower systolic blood pressure and cholesterol, lower rates of heart disease, and a longer lifespan.

A senior community amenity survey found that accepting pets is by far the most important amenity that a community can provide.

Today, the majority of senior living providers allow residents to keep a small-to-medium sized dog.
