Kye was a 3-year-old Belgian German Shepard; he worked as a K-9 for the Oklahoma City Police Department. He was killed in the line of duty chasing a suspect his owner, Sgt. Ryan Stark, was after. During the chase, the suspect stabbed Kye (whom died the next day in surgery). Sgt. Stark then shot and killed this suspect. Police dogs have a special attachment to their owners/trainers.
"They are part of you. If you're sleeping, they're probably right next to your bed."
Kye, without a doubt, died a hero.
